Büttenpapierfabrik Gmund - energy concept
In order to further improve regional sourcing and the environmental balance, considerations are currently being made to switch the energy supply from natural gas to other energy sources. As early as 2006, a feasibility study was conducted by eta Energieberatung to examine an alternative supply to the heavy oil used at the time.

Results
An energy concept for the sustainable steam supply of the Büttenpapierfabrik Gmund was compiled by eta Energieberatung.
In a first step, the expansion of the existing gas-fired steam generator by a biomass-fired steam generator was investigated. Possible fuels are regional forest products from the Tegernsee Valley, which are currently transported to the timber industry in Austria. The steam engine's own electricity generation can thus be converted to renewable generation, in addition to hydropower utilisation and electricity generation from the PV system. In addition, the use of a micro steam turbine was technically and economically tested. The concept was completed with the conclusion of the funding research and the presentation at the site.
A wood gas CHP unit was to expand the company's own electricity generation portfolio and provide heating for the company flats and offices in winter. This brief consideration was turned into a separate project.
In addition to optimising the energy efficiency of your existing plants, sustainable energy concepts with biogenic energy sources help to keep your business competitive in the long term. The investments for this pay off quickly.
